Summary

Join Rackner as a Cloud Solutions Architect III, working remotely to design and implement cloud-based systems for the Department of Defense (DoD). You will lead a team of architects, designing and recommending the best solutions for migrating to commercial cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, Office 365, and GCP. This role requires experience with cloud computing vendor architecture, agile development methodologies, and a strong understanding of software development principles.

Requirements

  • Master’s (10 years’ exp.) / Bachelor’s (14 years’ exp.) degree in Engineering or Mathematics (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or Information Systems) with: research, design and development of computer and network software or specialized utility which may include database maintenance within an application area
  • Applying programming concepts in a professional or academic setting
  • Implement modern software development methodologies (e.g. agile, DevOps/DevSecOps)
  • Cloud Computing vendor architecture certification
  • Agile Developer certification / Certified Scrum Developer certification

Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements and design Public, Private, and Hybrid Cloud-based system deployments and system transitions
  • Architect and plan migrations to commercial cloud service providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure and Office 365, GCP, or similar cloud platforms
  • Act as a technical lead on a team of architects, leading the design and recommendation for the best solution
  • Work with end users and application experts to elicit requirements for designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems in cloud based systems
  • Lift and shift planning for data migration to and from cloud-based systems
  • Ingress and egress planning for data migration to and from cloud-based systems
  • Select appropriate cloud services based on data, database, or security requirements
  • Manage the integration with on-premises enterprise networks and systems
  • Identify appropriate use of cloud architectural best practices
  • Estimate cloud costs and identify cost control measures and solutions
  • Provide tasking and oversight to other technical team members performing design and architecture
  • Provide technical clarity and direction to Cloud Iaas, PaaS, and SaaS Consultants
  • Review final work products for accuracy and adherence to design concepts
