Join D2L's Talent Acquisition team as a Solutions Architect and leverage your passion for education technology and SaaS platforms. You will be the primary technical escalation point for Solutions Engineers, assisting with complex technical requirements and presenting solutions to win sales opportunities. Your responsibilities include partnering with Solutions Engineers, engaging with customers to understand their needs, designing technical solutions, and mitigating risks. You will also contribute to technical enablement and collaborate with internal teams. This role requires experience in education technology, technical sales, and interpreting technical requirements. Requirements
- Have experience in education technology, particularly with Learning Management System (LMS) administration / integration; deep knowledge and experience with Brightspace is a must
- Have experience in a technical sales, consulting, or similar client-facing role
- Demonstrate the ability to understand complex business challenges and apply creativity and problem-solving to meet client needs
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, effectively articulating technical concepts to a varied audience
- Have strong presentation skills, with the ability to convince and persuade
- Exhibit a team-oriented, collaborative problem-solver attitude β fostering collaborative and positive relationships between team members, sales, services, and other internal teams
- Demonstrate leadership, initiative and execution β identifying organizational and informational gaps; defining and executing plans to close gaps; taking leadership in problem solving in collaboration with others; driving solutioning from problem definition to close
- Possess organization and analytical skillsβ sound time management and self-organization skills, managing multiple projects simultaneously with varying complexities
- Have the ability to work remotely with a distributed team and travel occasionally
- Understand the technology ecosystem that surrounds an LMS and typical integration needs β including: Systems of record (SIS/HRIS/AMS/CRM)
- Understand Authentication concepts (SAML/SSO, LDAP, JIT provisioning)
- Understand Third-party tool integration (LTI, API, IPaaS)
- Understand Data integration concepts (programmatic flat file transfer, API, relational database management, BI tools, EDW)
Responsibilities
- Partner with Solutions Engineers (SEs) as a technical expert and escalation point for sales opportunities: scoping complex technical requirements, writing responses, and presenting technical solutions as required
- Engage with prospective and current customers in collaboration with SEs to deeply understand their technical challenges, business goals, and integration needs; and present a compelling case for how D2L will best support
- Design, document, and present solutions for sales opportunities related to technical and partner integrations, security, data exchange, implementation, and more
- Build trust with both customers and internal stakeholders by using strong value-orientation to understand the ultimate business goals and challenges to solve for, and design the most effective technological solution aligned to those goals. Use strong communication skills to clearly articulate the impact of your proposed solution to driving success to goals
- Assess and mitigate potential blockers to a technical win in sales opportunities; assess and mitigate risks that might hinder the successful delivery and implementation of proposed technical solutions
- Serve as a liaison between implementation teams and sales opportunity teams to ensure technical knowledge is documented and transferred for a successful implementation
- Contribute materials and expertise for enablement and work with internal SME teams (Implementation, Sales, Product Management) to identify and fill information gaps that help Solutions Engineers communicate basic to intermediate level technical concepts. This may require creating re-usable assets, responding to one-off requests for information, or assisting other groups in creating and maintaining assets
Preferred Qualifications
- Have experience interpreting and responding to technical requirements (such as within RFPs), gathering client requirements, and/or writing SOWs
- Have a background in the teaching and learning industry (Higher Education, K-12, and/or Corporate Learning)
- Have familiarity with the enterprise software sales process; previous sales support would be an asset
