Summary

Join Databricks as a Specialist Solutions Architect (SSA) โ€“ Cloud Infrastructure Management and build, manage, and maintain internal cloud infrastructure resources across Azure, AWS, and GCP. Collaborate with Solutions Architects to support technical demos and proofs of concept for Data and AI products. Develop and implement technical tools to improve cost and time efficiency. Contribute to enhancing the overall productivity of the Field Engineering Center of Excellence. Oversee cloud spend and design automation to optimize cloud expenditures. This remote role requires up to 30% travel.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a technical role with expertise in at least one of the following areas: Cloud Platforms & Architecture: Cloud-native architecture in CSPs such as AWS, Azure, and GCP; serverless architecture
  • Platform Administration: High availability and disaster recovery, cluster management, observability, logging, monitoring, auditing, cost management
  • Infrastructure Automation and InfraOps using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, building internal web application in full stack with Next.js, TypeScript, and Python
  • Security: Platform security, network security, data security, GenAI & model security, encryption, vulnerability management, compliance
  • Networking: Architecture design, implementation, and performance
  • Identity Management: Provisioning, SCIM, OAuth, SAML, federation
  • Experience maintaining and evolving complex Databricks environments
  • Deep specialty expertise in at least one of the following: Security: Securing data platforms and managing identities
  • Complex deployments
  • Public cloud: Designing data platforms on AWS, Azure, or GCP, using best practices in cloud security and networking
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain internal cloud infrastructure for demos, training, proofs of concept, and moreโ€”across Azure, AWS, and GCP
  • Abstract complexity of internal infrastructure management through building internal applications and automation
  • Architect production-level deployments, ensuring alignment with security and networking requirements
  • Become a technical expert in areas such as cloud platforms, automation, security, networking, or identity management
  • Assist Solutions Architects with advanced aspects of the technical sales process, including custom proofs of concept and tailored architectures
  • Partner with Scale teams and Technical Enablement to develop internal documentation and drive overall productivity
  • Oversee cloud spend for the Field Engineering organization across Azure, AWS, and GCP. This includes participating in monthly cloud cost review meetings, monitoring infrastructure usage to align with team growth, and addressing capacity or performance issues
  • Design and implement automation to optimize and reduce cloud expenditures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Python; proficiency in SQL; experience with Terraform is desirable
  • Hands-on experience building web applications that abstract cloud deployments is a strong plus
  • 2+ years of professional experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka) and related architectures
