Sr. Engineering Manager

Summary

The job is for a Core Group Engineering Manager at dbt Labs, responsible for managing two teams of engineers, collaborating with the product team, fostering open-source and cloud offerings, and participating in the recruiting process. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of hands-on technical management experience, collaborated tightly with a product manager before, grown engineers of all levels, partnered with other internal teams to coordinate large initiatives, shares company values, is technical, capable of having in-depth decisions with engineers, and has worked asynchronously as part of a fully-remote, distributed team. The compensation range is $223,000-262,000.

• Have a demonstrated track record of growing engineers of all levels to the next level
• Have successfully partnered with other internal teams to coordinate large spanning initiatives

Responsibilities

• Build, support, and lead 2 teams of 10-15 highly talented and engaged engineers with the support of the manager of the adapters team
• Coach and mentor engineers and a manager on the team to help them grow their skills and their careers
• Partner with the product team to execute the timely delivery of key business initiatives
• Foster and grow our OSS and cloud offering of our products and active Community
• Hold 1:1s, quarterly and annual reviews with every member of the team
• Gather, compile, and clearly communicate performance feedback to the team
• Actively participate in our recruiting process from sourcing to hiring
• Foster technical decision-making within the team and across teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Have used dbt in the past or have a background in analytics engineering
• Have experience with maturing Python codebases
• Have contributed to or maintained an OSS project
• Have experience managing a distributed team of engineers, or working remotely
• Have strong written communication skills
• Have startup experience
