Summary

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for various monthly close processes, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, GL functions, vendor management, 1099 tax returns, and assisting with annual audit preparation. The candidate should have excellent communication skills, at least one year of accounting experience, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and experience with ERP systems like NetSuite is a plus.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication (Verbal and written)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Minimum one year of accounting experience
  • Experience with an ERP system a plus (such as NetSuite), A/P systems, and expense management software experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Detail-oriented and organized, and the ability to work within tight deadlines to ensure the timely completion of the monthly close process

Responsibilities

  • Owning various monthly close processes
  • Performing the processing and recording of accounts payable, coding invoices, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Reconciling bank and credit card accounts monthly, for accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Being responsible for day-to-day management of GL functions, preparing journal entries and monthly reconciliations, such as cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, etc
  • Reviewing and reconciling company credit cards and expense reimbursements, including collaborating across departments to obtain necessary support
  • Assisting in monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close activities
  • Maintaining and updating vendor files, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date, including W-9s and contracts
  • Preparing yearly 1099 tax returns to applicable vendors
  • Collaborating with internal departments to obtain necessary approvals and resolve any payment-related issues
  • Supporting the implementation of process improvements and automation initiatives
  • Assisting with annual audit preparation, various tax filings, and other compliance items
  • Assisting with other ad-hoc projects, as necessary
