Staff Accountant

Summary

Belvedere Trading is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their Accounting team in Chicago. The role involves general ledger accounting & reporting, accounts payable, expense analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software, excellent analytical skills, detail-oriented work output, effective communication skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with a focus on Accounts Payable preferred
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work output
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
• Dedication to maintaining strict confidentiality with respect to highly sensitive information

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures
• Resolve discrepancies with vendors and internal stakeholders in a timely manner
• Prepare and perform payment runs, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records in accordance with GAAP
• Support external audit activities by providing documentation and explanations as requested

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or progress towards CPA certification preferred
• Experience with OCR technology a plus
• Experience or interest in the Financial Markets preferred
