Staff Accountant

Summary

The job description is for a Staff Accountant position in the Finance team at Matterport. The role involves managing Sales Tax and VAT reporting, assisting with monthly close process, working closely with outsourced accountants, and documenting business processes. The ideal candidate should have relevant accounting experience, understanding of US GAAP, strong Excel skills, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting or related discipline
• 4+ Years Accounting Experience - General Ledger, Journal Entries, Accruals, GL Account reconciliations, sales and use tax, assist with month-end entries & closing
• 2+ Experience with Indirect Tax in the US & Europe
• Strong Excel skill and experience working with large sets of data
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
• Ability to learn fast
• Solid understanding of US generally accepted accounting principles
• Experience working in NetSuite ERP system
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Exhibit a positive attitude and enjoy working in a collaborative fast paced environment

Responsibilities

• Manage company Sales Tax and VAT reporting and reconciliation working with our tax partners in the EMEA and North America
• Active role in monthly close process including maintenance of the general ledger by creating & reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses
• Work closely with outsourced accountants in EMEA & APAC to maintain the books for the subsidiaries
• Assist with ad hoc projects and prepare responses to various requests for information
• Document business process & drive continual process improvement leveraging best practices
