Summary

As a Staff Accountant, you will maintain accurate financial records, oversee payroll processes, manage accounts payable, and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization. Key responsibilities include hands-on accounting tasks, financial reporting, records management, collaborative problem-solving, audit support, process optimization, financial analysis, ad hoc projects, financial modeling, cash flow forecasting, and budgeting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Hands-On Experience: Currently or recently engaged in hands-on accounting activities within a US-based SMB
  • Remote Work Experience: Proven track record of effectively managing accounting tasks and responsibilities in a remote work environment
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Familiarity with other accounting software is advantageous
  • Passion for Learning: Demonstrated eagerness to expand knowledge and skills in accounting principles and practices
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify patterns and anomalies, and draw meaningful insights
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • GAAP Knowledge: Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and their application in financial reporting and compliance requirements

Responsibilities

  • Execute day-to-day accounting tasks such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations
  • Assist in preparing accurate and comprehensive financial reports for monthly and yearly close processes
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records, including documentation of transactions, invoices, and financial statements
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing audit schedules, reconciling accounts, and facilitating communication between auditors and relevant departments
  • Continuously evaluate accounting procedures and workflows to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements
  • Conduct insightful financial analysis, such as variance analysis and trend identification
  • Undertake ad hoc projects and initiatives as assigned by management
  • Develop and maintain financial models to analyze business performance, forecast future financial outcomes, and support strategic decision-making processes
  • Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts and budgets

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA/CMA certification is preferred
  • Process Improvement: Proven ability to identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and implement improvements. Experience in streamlining workflows and enhancing efficiency in financial operations is highly desirable
