Join Portnoff Law Associates, Ltd., a well-established law firm specializing in real estate tax and municipal utility fee collection, as a part-time, remote attorney. This position offers a flexible schedule, allowing you to set your own hours, including weekends or evenings. The primary responsibility involves reviewing a high volume of files to ensure compliance with notice requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong legal knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency in relevant software.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania
• Computer Proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word), Collection Partner or a similar collections database, DocuSign
• Dependable, with strong work ethic and personal integrity
• Excellent organization, prioritization and time management skills

Responsibilities

• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the relevant federal and state laws, particularly the Municipal Claims and Tax Liens Act, 53 P.S. §7101, et seq., the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Amended Regulation F
• Ensure that notice requirements under 53 P.S. §7106 are met for each account where applicable
• Ensure that validation requirements are met for each claim under Regulation F where applicable
• Prepare, review and sign legal demand letters via DocuSign
• Review claims to determine if a lien may be filed where appropriate
• Review files to determine what the next appropriate step in the collection process may be
• Other duties as assigned
