Join Natera's Oncology Bioinformatics Research team as a Staff Bioinformatics Scientist, contributing to the planning and execution of research projects related to Oncology. This hybrid/remote (US-based) position requires expertise in algorithm development, sequencing data processing, and the full product development lifecycle. You will serve as a technical lead for algorithm and diagnostic model development projects, mentoring other scientists and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. The role involves designing, implementing, and validating algorithms, developing analysis pipelines, and deploying them on the cloud. You will also contribute to experimental design, ensuring data integrity, and presenting research findings at conferences and in publications. Requirements
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Biostatistics, or related field
- Minimum of 6-8 years of working in the bioinformatics field and extensive cross-functional experience
- Highly experienced in algorithm development, data analysis, and machine learning
- Strong expertise in understanding and working with sequencing data
- Track-record of leading and developing state-of-the-art and highly impactful computational methods
- Experience in Python
- Familiar with public genomic data bases for oncology (TCGA, cBioPortal, COSMIC etc.)
- Experience integrating models into pipelines (e.g., AWS, Docker, SnakeMake, WDL)
- High scientific rigor and eager to teach and learn about new computational methods and biology
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and validate innovative algorithms and statistical methods to analyze large-scale data sets related to cancer diagnostic
- Develop, enhance, and maintain analysis pipelines for diagnostic tests, including quality control
- Deploy analysis pipelines on the cloud and optimize the resource utilization
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence
- Mentor and train other bioinformatics scientists
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including engineering, biostats, and molecular biology teams to support the development of new products
- Contribute to experimental design and ensure data integrity and quality control
- Present results at conferences and publish in top-tier journals
