Staff Data Scientist - Inference, Experimentation

Summary

Join Airbnb's Core Data Science team as a Staff Data Scientist and leverage state-of-the-art science to make a significant impact on the business. Partner with engineering and data science teams to develop the next generation of experimentation methods and tooling. Work on Bayesian inference, bias correction for marketplace experiments, developing surrogate metrics, and accelerating the iteration cycle for online testing of ML/AI models. Build methods and tools for continuous testing and optimization. Success requires effective partnerships, problem-solving skills, and connecting business needs to technical solutions. The position is US-Remote Eligible, with occasional office work or offsite attendance.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in a quantitative field, e.g. Operations Research, Economics, Mathematics, Physics
• Proven ability to design analytical solutions to complex problems with real world applications
• 6+ years (with Ph.D) or 8+ yrs of experience of working or doing research in one or more experimentation / causal inference domains
• Strong programming (R, Python / Scala / Java / C++ or equivalent) skills
• Versatility to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

• Building out Bayesian inference
