Requirements
- 7+ years of combined public and private sector leadership experience managing complex technology modernization projects with confidence and clarity
- Exceptional stakeholder management and team leadership skills
- Comfortable making difficult prioritization calls and aligning numerous stakeholders across engineering, design, and business operations
- A mission-driven, scrappy team leader capable of rolling up their sleeves and βgetting it doneβ for Veterans and our government partners effectively and efficiently while maintaining strong relationships
- Naturally proactive: anticipates challenges before they arise and brings creative solutions to the table
- Self-starter able to operate independently with minimal oversight, while staying laser-focused on delivering value to the public and our government partners consistently
- Works fluidly with cross-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders in a highly collaborative environment
- Strong communicator: able to assert ideas with clarity and diplomacy. Equally comfortable asking for help or surfacing risks early
- Technical background (e.g., Computer Science degree, engineering experience, and/or product work in technical domains)
- Comfortable working closely with engineers to shape implementation details, coordinate releases, manage technical trade-offs, and understand system architecture
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships within and across the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
- Partner with executive-level government stakeholders to translate business, technical, and user needs into an effective and compelling product strategy
- Lead a multidisciplinary team to consistently deliver software and design improvements for VA.gov editors and users
- Drive evidence-based prioritization, decision-making, and attention to detail across the team
- Balance opportunities and constraints across business, technical architecture, and end-user needs
- Effectively document features, epics, and user stories
- Set success metrics and measure quantitative and qualitative impact of product improvements on an ongoing basis
- Run efficient and effective team ceremonies, including sprint planning, product demos, and retrospectives
- Partner with MOβs growth team to proactively identify opportunities to scale impact based on exceptional delivery
- Engage peers throughout the government ecosystem to proactively collaborate and problem solve
- Support, mentor, and manage other MO product managers to reach their full potential
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in or with government agencies, especially the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
- Experience working with or managing teams that build or scale Content Management Systems (CMS)
- Exposure to AI and machine learning product development, including integration into user workflows or internal operations
