Staff Software Engineer, Remote - Brazil

Summary

The job is for a Staff-level Backend Engineer at Xometry, a digital manufacturing marketplace. The role involves working on the instant-quote product and technology platform, collaborating with other engineers and product managers, and taking operational responsibility for services in an AWS and kubernetes environment. The position requires 10+ years of experience as a software developer, strong English skills, understanding of software engineering fundamentals, knowledge of HTML, CSS, DOM web programming, at least two of Python, Rust, and React, and software engineering principles related to security, scalability, asynchronous programming, and transactions. Additional desired qualifications include experience with build and testing technologies, service-oriented architectures, relational and/or NoSQL databases, and leading efforts in defining and implementing a service strategy.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in a fast-paced technical, problem-solving environment as a software developer
• Strong English speaking and writing skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences
• Demonstrable understanding of software engineering fundamentals
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, DOM web programming
• Knowledge and demonstrated experience in at least two of Python, Rust, and React
• Experience with software engineering principles related to security, scalability, asynchronous programming, and transactions

Responsibilities

• Technology and software design leadership on a software development team designing, coding, testing, and releasing functionality to customers
• Close collaboration with other engineers and product managers to become a valued member of an autonomous, cross-functional team
• Operational responsibility for the services that are owned by your team, including deploying services into an AWS and kubernetes environment and taking part in an on-call rotation
