Requirements
- Be a current student pursuing their undergraduate degree (graduate students are only considered for internships with our research and innovations teams)
- Possess good communication skills, including writing and speaking
- Have an interest in community management and social media management
- Have experience working on multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Support our social and community management needs, primarily on the TikTok platform
- Engage with people on our own channels and other accounts who are quitting nicotine
- Research social trends and influencers
- Create content on a weekly basis
- Assist the Digital Marketing Specialist with analyzing campaign performance on a monthly basis
- Assist in all aspects of the department and be fully integrated into the Communications team
- Participate in team meetings and events
- Gain experience in supporting the team in a wide range of communications and administrative functions
- Write press releases
- Draft stories from our monthly newsletter
- Assemble press kits
- Research media coverage
- Compile reporter information
- Clip/track media coverage
- Compile clips reports
- Assist with in-house press conferences and events
- Support Truth Initiative's Development and Partnerships expertise center to broaden their knowledge of fundraising, grantmaking, and college activism
- Be involved in the Tobacco/Vape-Free College Grant Program and development work
- Engage in college grant recruitment
- Conduct potential funder research
- Handle virtual meeting logistics and notes
- Perform data entry
- Contribute to the work of evaluating the truth campaign or assisting in other research efforts
- Conduct literature searches for peer-reviewed papers
- Assist in searches for campaign-related information and data
- Test online surveys used to evaluate the campaign and prepare results
- Produce codebooks for internal studies using in-house common codebook template
- Build a repository of common survey measures in the Qualtrics system
- GeoCode FDA (Warning Letters & Passed Inspections)
- Create GIS feature services for the Truth Initiative Tobacco Viewer
- Geotag weekly reported study participant locations
- Support rapid research capabilities with an emphasis on managing and cleaning data and documenting data analytic procedures
- Provide quality assurance support to ensure that data are cleaned, and processes are documented appropriately
- Clean and code large data sets involving multiple years of data; ensuring consistent coding of variables across all survey waves
- Maintain records related to study response rates and retention
- Perform data cleaning, data validation, and reporting tasks
- Conduct literature searches and reviews
- Conduct descriptive analyses and basic inferential analyses using SAS, Stata, R, or mplus under the tutelage of the Senior Analysts
- Support research analysts in preparing datasets for use by others, and facilitating communication among collaborators, when necessary
- Help with presentations of research findings at major conferences and meetings
Preferred Qualifications
- Have a passionate interest in public health or tobacco control
- Be a current student pursuing their undergraduate degree in a related field
- Be an undergraduate student with a demonstrated interest in college activism, grants, public health education, and health promotion
- Be pursuing a degree in public health, marketing, political science, or related fields
- Be detail-oriented
- Possess excellent communication skills
- Be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with other departments and in a fast-paced environment
- Be a current student pursuing their graduate degree in public health
- Have an interest in behavioral research and/or interest in tobacco control research
- Be in an undergraduate or Masterβs program in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field with a strong background in quantitative methods
- Have some experience with programming and data management, along with knowledge of statistical research methodology/principles
