Join Avetta as a Systems Administrator and manage the uptime of our global customer-facing system infrastructure. You will be responsible for maintaining all application system infrastructure, designing and scaling infrastructure for global availability, and ensuring performance, uptime, and cost-effectiveness. Passion for cloud-based infrastructure, automation, and maintaining system stability at scale is essential. This role involves automating infrastructure, supporting production and development systems, and developing CI/CD pipelines. You will collaborate with development teams, set up monitoring tools, and maintain backups. A strong understanding of Linux/Unix administration, networking, and RESTful architecture is required. The position demands 24/7 responsiveness to production outages and a commitment to continuous learning and innovation.

Responsibilities
- Automate reproducible infrastructure to maintain predictability and security
- Support infrastructure for both production and development systems
- Maintain continuous integration and deployment infrastructure: working knowledge of Git, CI tools like Github Actions, Jenkins to maintain continuous builds & deployments
- Maintain hundreds of servers through predictable and repeatable automation with provisioning and configuration management tools like SaltStack and Terraform
- Develop CI/CD pipelines tailored for mobile app development, ensuring efficient build, testing, and deployment processes for Android/iOS environments
- Collaborate with mobile development teams to optimize the infrastructure for mobile-specific requirements such as push notifications, real-time updates, and API rate-limiting
- Set up monitoring and observability tools for mobile infrastructure, tracking metrics like API performance, network latency, and crash reports with tools like Crashlytics
- Share strong knowledge in Linux/Unix administration
- Maintain enterprise-grade backups, well-tested restore and understanding of data encryption
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of networking like DNS, NAT, Internet Gateways, stateless applications to maintain an effective microservices architecture
- Possess working knowledge of RESTful architecture design and HTTP protocol
- Respond to and troubleshoot Production outages 24/7 for a global SaaS platform
- Automate 24/7 monitors and checks to provide real-time insight into Production systems
- Demonstrate strong knowledge in load balancers, microservices architecture, and designing and maintaining highly available systems
- Identify ways of reducing overall overhead costs
- Use recyclable infrastructure, utilize shared resources effectively using containerization tools like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
- Show willingness to constantly learn and innovate and improve infrastructure and automation as the DevOps space continues to evolve
- Be creative in finding ways to increase security while maintaining agility
- Be willing to innovate and propose new ideas and technologies to help the business continue to scale effectively
- Be able to co-innovate and propose new design and architecture along with system architects
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelorβs Degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in a DevOps role with hands-on DevOps experience with expertise in CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (AWS)
- 5+ years of experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, and/or SaltStack)
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and Go
- Expertise in container technologies (Kubernetes) and networking tools (HAProxy, ALB)
- Working knowledge of RESTful microservices architecture design
- Ability to design global, highly available architecture
- Candidates that currently live in Australia and are Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents without any restrictions to work in Australia are preferred
