Technical Writer

Summary

The job is for a Proposal Developer who will create compelling proposals for federal customers, particularly the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of State. The candidate should have experience working with Subject Matter Experts and be technically adept.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in technical field + 8 years professional work experience
• Strong writing and communication skills with ability to assess and digest large amounts of information
• Technical background and/or proficient understanding in any of the following fields: Training, Acquisition, Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction, Intelligence Analysis, etc

Responsibilities

• Development and curation of technical content leveraging information gathered via multiple methods
• Interviewing Program Managers, Subject Matter Experts, and Solution Architects to draft technical proposal content
• Researching legacy content to apply and tailor to other customer’s solicitation requirements
• Identify and articulate win themes and key discriminators
• Broad depth and understanding of proposal requirements combined with technical acumen to successfully storyboard and write sections
• Incorporate comments gathered from storyboard reviews, pink teams, red teams, and gold teams
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, analyze, and synthesize information from various sources
• Stay current with industry standards and best practices in technical writing
• Attend capture, solution, and proposal meetings to ensure complete understanding of opportunity and ability to tailor proposal messaging

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior Military experience
• Prior experience in proposal or technical writing for Government contracting
• Trained in professional proposal writing strategy
• Skilled in ‘strength-based’ writing practicum
