Requirements
- Excellent command of oral and written English
- Professional or academic experience with writing, editing, or publishing
- Proficiency with word processing applications such as Microsoft Word and Google Docs
- Experience with using and administrating knowledge base or other web publishing software
- Extreme attention to detail
- Ability to think creatively, especially when dealing with challenging or complex situations
- Ability to learn complex systems and devise and implement accurate and thorough documentation and instructions about these systems
- Ability to learn quickly, work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and ask questions when uncertain
- 1–2 years of work experience as a technical writer, preferably in the technology industry or a related field
- Knowledge of basic CSS, HTML, or JavaScript
- Experience working with APIs or in a docs-as-code environment
Responsibilities
- Write, update, and publish knowledge base articles for a cybersecurity Software as a Service (SaaS) platform
- Test and document platform features
- Collaborate with a small team to prioritize tasks and set achievable goals
- Work closely with subject-matter experts and other employees across multiple teams and disciplines to resolve questions, provide solutions, and accomplish mutual goals
- Shape and execute strategy for long-term documentation improvement projects
- Get onboarded and train with your supervisor and teammates
- Become familiar with the team’s tools, technology, and processes
- Understand the mission and products of the Documentation and Training Team
- Learn the basic functionalities of the ThreatConnect platform by reading documentation, experimenting with internal platform accounts, and receiving instructions from your supervisor and teammates
- Become acquainted with the company structure and the internal stakeholders with whom you will be collaborating
- Understand the ThreatConnect product release cycle and how it drives documentation goals and processes
- With guidance, make and publish minor updates to Knowledge Base articles
- Understand, navigate, and use the ThreatConnect platform at a basic level
- Use clearly stated directives to make and publish simple documentation updates
- Follow all standard operating procedures for the execution and administration of all documentation updates
- Show progress and development by applying feedback to subsequent assignments
- Begin to understand how directives for documentation updates are generated from product feature tickets, design documents, and training demos
- Work on documentation improvement projects unrelated to core-release needs
- Be a full participant in the team’s monthly planning meetings by helping prioritize tasks and projects
- Be a full participant in product demos, cross-departmental, and other company meetings
- Understand and navigate the ThreatConnect platform at an advanced beginner or intermediate level
- Test platform features for documentation and identify and document bugs and problematic behavior
- Begin to use product feature tickets, design documents, and training demos to create and execute your own documentation update directives for medium- and low-priority documentation needs
- Edit and peer-review other team members’ work
- Be a full and independent participant in core release documentation planning and updates
- Navigate the ThreatConnect platform at a high-intermediate level
- Plan and execute intermediate-level documentation updates
- Have a strong familiarity with the body of ThreatConnect documentation
- Generate your own long-term plans for documentation improvement
- Set professional-growth goals for the next year
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with cybersecurity or software engineering
- Experience with instructional design, UX design, e-learning, or content authoring
- Teaching, grant writing, or scientific publishing experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, writing, communications, instructional design, software/computer engineering, or other relevant field
