User Experience Designer

Summary

Join ecobee, a rapidly growing global tech company, as a UX Designer to help define the user experience for their corporate website. You will collaborate with development and product management teams, conduct user research, and design user interfaces for responsive web and mobile devices. This role requires 3+ years of industry experience, a degree in UX/interactive/graphic design, and experience with e-commerce platforms or subscription-based services. Requirements

• 3+ years of industry experience, including design of responsive web
• Degree or diploma in UX/interactive/graphic design, or equivalent
• Interaction design experience including responsive web, mobile app, information architecture, etc
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including development, and providing guidelines and assets required for implementation
• Knowledge of facilitation, able to recommend ideation workshop activities and comfortable leading a room
• Experience utilizing user research and testing to inform design decisions. Ability to prepare for and run unbiased user interviews, and contribute to synthesizing results
• Thorough understanding of design patterns and best practices on mobile and web
• Interest in the connected home market and designing for products that may include voice and other non-screen-based user interactions

Responsibilities

• Design user experiences and user interfaces for ecobee’s corporate website with responsive design to handle iOS and Android mobile devices
• Collaborate closely with other designers, development teams, product management, and copywriters to recommend features, experiences, and UI implementations
• Plan and run open-ended user research to learn about customers’ needs, goals and lifestyles, as well as synthesize results
• Consider customer pain points while investigating solutions to design problems, and validate design decisions with usability testing
• Assist with facilitating design charrettes (ideation workshops) with team members from various areas of the company to gain insights and develop rough concepts to move forward with
• Be comfortable communicating ideas to a group of internal stakeholders, explaining rationale behind design decisions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with an e-commerce platform or subscription based service is an asset
• Experience in animation and front-end development would be an asset
