Summary
Join Xapo Bank as their Vice President of Risk Management, a fully remote position where you will lead the development and implementation of robust risk management frameworks. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, or related field
- 7+ years of proven experience in an executive risk management role, fraud, KYC, payments within FinTech or a related field, with a successful track record in team leadership and mentorship
- A strong financial risk background
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, to effectively interact with both internal teams and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive risk management strategies and controls
- Robust analytical capabilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving within a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Deep understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards in financial services, with the ability to maintain compliance
- Thrives in an evolving, fast-paced environment, showing resilience and flexibility in response to changes and challenges
- Practical understanding and working knowledge of AML regulatory requirements relating to KYC / Financial Crime
- An understanding of the mechanics of BTC and the related challenges of wallets, flows and regulations in the Crypto landscape. Exposure to regulations pertaining to a Bank and a VASP would be useful

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement risk management strategies, policies, and procedures that support Xapo Bank’s objectives, regulatory standards, and commitment to trustworthiness, security, and innovation in digital banking
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of risk professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, integrity, and growth that reflects Xapo Bank’s values
- Collaborate with the Executive Leadership team to align risk management priorities, budgets, and objectives, ensuring these meet Xapo Bank’s strategic goals and vision
- Identify, assess, and prioritize potential risks across operational, financial, regulatory, and reputational areas to safeguard Xapo Bank’s interests and uphold its ethical standards
- Design and implement effective risk mitigation strategies and controls to maintain a secure, resilient, and compliant environment
- Oversee key risk indicators (KRIs) and metrics, using these insights to assess risk exposure, detect emerging risks, and support informed, data-driven decisions
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and Xapo’s policies, maintaining open channels with regulatory authorities as part of Xapo’s commitment to transparency
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, partners, regulators, and industry leaders, staying abreast of trends and changes impacting digital banking and crypto-regulations
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing clear, actionable insights and recommendations on risk-related matters that drive Xapo Bank’s mission forward
