Summary

You will oversee and manage the technical design aspects of wind farms, collaborating with various teams and external stakeholders. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering or related degree
  • 6+ years of experience in the renewable energy industry
  • 2+ years of experience with wind engineering responsibilities
  • Knowledge of overall design and construction of Wind Power Plants
  • Knowledge of grid connection and electrical substation (main components and functioning)
  • Knowledge of Wind Turbine systems
  • Experience with EPC, TSA, and Owner Engineering contract negotiations and management
  • Ability to multi-task and manage deliverables for multiple projects at a time
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Software experience in Openwind, Windographer, Global Mapper, AutoCAD, and/or ArcGIS
  • Familiarity with modeling energy project economics and concepts such as NPV, IRR, and LCOE
  • Reviewing engineering related drawings, reports, electrical studies, site tests, and ability to identify risks and opportunities that can be translated into schedule and capex impacts

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Due Diligences, Feasibility Studies, Design for Permitting, and Detailed Design (shop drawings and IFC drawings) for all Wind Power Plants
  • Work closely with Development Engineering on understanding and integrating all site related constraints into the project design
  • Identify, evaluate, communicate, coordinate, and manage risk mitigation for design related challenges and work with the team to identify potential solutions that meet project needs
  • Manage the facilitation of documentation from all main equipment suppliers, local jurisdictions, operational requirements, etc., with the Engineering team for design integration
  • Manage the collaboration with Turbine Supplier, Owners Engineers, and EPC Contractor for design and optimization related matters
  • Manage all relevant contracts and Development budgets related to Wind Project Design activities for the entire lifecycle of the wind farm design
  • Manage the interface with the Wind Resource Assessment team on layout interfaces as relates to BoP capex evaluations and optimizations, and managing the alignment of any design related activities and modeling with the relevant turbine array and turbine technology
  • Support pre-construction efforts by maintaining project site plans, inclusive of wind turbine layout, preliminary electrical collection cable and access road siting, and other balance of plant considerations
  • Support EPC contract evaluation and negotiations , especially as relates to design exposure and associated mitigations
  • Support TSA contract evaluation and negotiations , especially as relates to grid compliance requirements, EPC schedule requirements, any constraints that may hinder the project related to capex, yield, schedule, etc
  • Maintain working knowledge of wind turbine technology and affiliated technical and market trends. Work with wind turbine Original Equipment Manufacturers to optimize equipment selection for projects as it relates to power curves, operational modes, mechanical suitability considerations, and curtailment strategies
  • Provide engineering assistance with subject matter expert coordination during construction and commissioning phases
  • Manage coordination of Wind Measurement devices between equipment suppliers, installation crews, and Intersect’s Permitting and Land teams. This will include site visits to inspect viability of locations
