Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting, with expertise in financial accounting and management, including a proven track record in month-end accounting and business partnering
- Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong understanding of commercial management and contracts
- Proficiency in working with a variety of systems, with advanced skills in Excel
- Excellent personal organisation and planning skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Working knowledge of payroll
- Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely
- A mindset focused on continuous improvement and innovation, seeking out creative solutions to challenges and striving for excellence
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the long-term success of DEFEND by executing our strategies and fostering a positive team environment
- Actively participate in governance and planning activities, collaborate with the wider team, and identify opportunities for continuous business improvement
- Ensure end-to-end effective governance and management of the organisation's financial interests
- Assist with financial planning and forecasting, month-end reporting, treasury and tax management
- Take ownership of revenue integrity, cost management, general accounting, payroll management, and run the month-end process including P&L reporting, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, Cashflow and variance analysis
- Implement continuous improvement of internal financial controls and suggestions for policy improvements, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting
- Assist the Financial Controller with sustainable forecasts and working to align the day-to-day operations with the strategic vision of the organisation
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure accuracy and alignment of our financial information with forecasted product and projects outcomes
