Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (Ciências Contábeis), Finance, or related field
- Active registration with CRC (Conselho Regional de Contabilidade) is required
- Minimum of 3 years of working experience in Brazilian Finance and Accounting, preferably in BPO, shared services, or multinational environments
- Strong knowledge of CPC and IFRS standards, SPED obligations, and Brazilian tax legislation (municipal, state, and federal)
- Experience with accounting systems used in Brazil
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for reconciliations and reporting
- Portuguese and English fluency required, Spanish proficiency a plus
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review full sets of accounts in compliance with CPC standards and Lei das Sociedades por Ações (Law 6.404/76) and IFRS
- Perform and review bookkeeping and accounting entries in compliance with SPED Contábil and SPED Fiscal obligations
- Ensure accurate classification of tax obligations, including ICMS, ISS, PIS/COFINS, IRPJ, and CSLL
- Generate analytical reports and accounting schedules, scrutinize for anomalies, and devise plans for investigation and corrective actions
- Review and ensure the accuracy of Digital Tax Bookkeeping (ECD) deliverables before submission to tax authorities
- Support the preparation of DCTF, ECF, EFD-Contribuições, GIA and other ancillary obligations
- Liaise with tax and legal teams to ensure compliance with municipal, state, and federal regulations
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts and ensure correct postings from eSocial and SEFIP/GFIP submissions
- Review and ensure the precision of the accounting deliverables and deliver them to the client within the agreed-upon timeline
- Provide mentorship and guidance to Associates while supervising the quality and deliverables of their work
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, policies, procedures, and controls
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding accounting matters and compliance requirements
- Explain procedures and control requirements according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Brazilian tax calendar deadlines
- Assist in internal audits and the development of processes, guaranteeing all in line with Receita Federal and Secretarias da Fazenda Estaduais requirements
- Contribute to and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Identify recurring issues or potential risks, suggest improvement opportunities, and contribute to project implementation
- Perform other ad hoc tasks as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification (e.g., MBA, pós-graduação) in Tax, Finance, or Accounting is a plus
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work with tight deadlines in accordance with Brazil’s fiscal calendar
- Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, etc.) is a plus
