Requirements

  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining APIs, including RESTful services
  • Strong ability to define API specifications using OpenAPI
  • Expertise in API security, including OAuth 2.0, JWTs, and access control mechanisms
  • Hands-on experience in at least one programming language (Python, JavaScript, Go, or Java)
  • Experience developing and deploying containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working within Agile teams
  • Knowledge of API management platforms
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based API deployment and infrastructure management
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks for API validation
  • Must hold active SC Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality API services, primarily HTTP REST-based
  • Define API specifications using OpenAPI and other industry standards
  • Develop APIs to meet non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Integrate APIs with various software components, including data stores and third-party services
  • Implement secure authentication methods such as OAuth 2.0, JWTs, and other security best practices
  • Work within an Agile delivery methodology, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams
  • Write and maintain automated unit tests alongside developed code
  • Develop and manage containerised solutions using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Work with API management platforms to ensure effective governance and control
  • Monitor API performance and optimise as necessary to ensure high availability and reliability
  • Support API troubleshooting and debugging efforts, resolving integration issues efficiently
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in API development and integration
