Summary

Join Canva's Localisation team as an experienced Arabic Language Manager for a 12-month, part-time contract (approximately 20 hours per week). Work fully remotely from anywhere in the world. You will be responsible for creating Canva's Arabic voice across its product, managing relationships with localization partners, developing style guides and glossaries, reviewing translations, providing cultural insights, and identifying localization improvement opportunities. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders and ensuring a high-quality, culturally relevant user experience for Arabic-speaking users. The position offers flexibility and the chance to contribute to a global team.

Requirements

  • Have experience as a Language Lead/Localisation Specialist for a SaaS product
  • Be an expert with CAT tools
  • Showcase a solid understanding of organic growth (SEO and WordPress)
  • Understand the global user experience and how to improve it, ideally from experience working in a localisation/internationalisation environment within a SaaS company
  • Be a natural at writing clear, fun, and engaging content. Have experience with creative writing and/or design and be able to hit the perfect tone in multiple different contexts
  • Be passionate about languages and cultures and understand how these can impact peopleโ€™s experience of a product
  • Love taking things from chaos to clarity โ€” be a natural at understanding ambiguous, complex problems and communicating them simply to others
  • Have the drive to see things through despite changes and setbacks
  • Be equally comfortable discussing details with engineers and ideas with product managers and designers
  • Be great with tech (Atlassian project management tools, basic web development) and write a mean doc

Responsibilities

  • Create Canvaโ€™s voice across all parts of the Canva product in Arabic
  • Translate key content and manage the relationship with our localisation partners for Arabic
  • Develop/Update a style guide and glossary
  • Review and evaluate translation quality
  • Provide cultural insights and guidance
  • Identify key opportunities for localisation improvements in Arabic
  • Review vendor translations
  • Assess and sourcing new LSPs
  • Answering linguistic questions
  • Triaging results of scripted testing
  • After 6 months you will have established relationships with key stakeholders in marketing, subscriptions, and content that will allow you to deploy your local expertise
  • You will have created processes and channels for communicating best practices and completing internal requests such as copywriting, content review, and translation guidelines
