Summary

The job is for an Assistant Controller at X Games, a leading action sports events company. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a distributed team
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

Responsibilities

• Provide technical accounting expertise to the organization
• Maintain all supporting balance sheet schedules, enter and adjust journal entries, manage staff accountant
• Oversee the monthly close process to ensure timely and accurate GAAP compliant financials
• Responsible for timely execution of recurring functions with fixed deadlines, e.g. semi-monthly payroll, weekly disbursement cycles, yearly audits, tax filings
• Lead and manage the treasury function including customer collections, preparation of payments, and reconciliation of cash balances
• Develop and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
• Oversight of internal controls to safeguard company assets
• Assist with the creation of the company annual operating budget in collaboration with the VP, Finance and Accounting
• Drive continuous improvements to the timeliness and accuracy of the company’s processes and procedures
• Acting as the primary liaison for the company’s annual audit
• Work with external tax advisors to oversee the company’s federal, state, and international tax obligations
• Participate in future ERP upgrade/implementation initiatives
• Coordinate distinctive cross-functional projects and perform ad hoc financial analysis as assigned by the VP of Finance & Accounting

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA designation
• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Experience in a high-growth company environment
• Experience in sports, entertainment, or media industry
