Assistant General Counsel

Summary

Bestow is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to support the Data Analytics, IT, and Privacy & Security teams. The role involves providing legal guidance on data security, privacy regulation, life insurance products, and underwriting. The successful candidate should have at least 12 years of experience with exceptional academic and law firm credentials, preferably with 5 years of in-house experience with a life insurance carrier.

Requirements

At least twelve (12) years of experience with exceptional academic and law firm credentials; at least five (5) years of in-house experience with a life insurance carrier preferred

Responsibilities

• Legal support to the Data Analytics, IT, Privacy & Security, and Innovation teams
• Serve as a subject matter expert on legal/regulatory issues related to privacy, data, and security
• Provide day-to-day advice on legal issues related to intellectual property and technology solutions
• Legal understanding of using big data to deliver SaaS solutions to enterprise partners
• Provide legal support in a fast-paced insure-tech start-up environment
• Monitor and advise on changes in laws or regulations, particularly those impacting Company strategy
• Assist with legal department projects as assigned, including efforts to develop, implement, and enhance processes
• Work with various business stakeholders to develop and implement practices that support innovation and growth while maintaining appropriate commercial risk
