Summary

Join Natera's Research group within the Data Science team as an Associate Director, overseeing research projects, guiding a team of data scientists, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and excellence in genetic testing solutions.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in quantitative (Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Engineering), or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in data science or bioinformatics, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Experience in women's health diagnostic testing is a significant plus
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience in several of the following areas: machine learning, statistics, deep learning, bioinformatics
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and scripting languages such as Python
  • Strong understanding of genetic data and bioinformatics pipelines
  • Advanced experience in use of open-source machine learning libraries (Python) in a cloud-based environment
  • Proven ability to apply mathematical principles to solve real estimation problems and implement practical solutions
  • Familiarity with assay development and analysis pipelines for molecular and clinical biomarkers
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a research team. Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Proven experience working with teams of diverse individuals to deliver complex projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and build productive partnerships

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and researchers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment
  • Oversee the design, execution, and analysis of research projects. Ensure scientific rigor and integrity in all research activities
  • Manage multiple research projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budgets. Coordinate with other departments to align research efforts with business objectives
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including bioinformatics, clinical, and product development, to integrate research findings into product offerings. Foster partnerships with external researchers and institutions
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in data science, genetics, and bioinformatics. Drive the adoption of new methodologies and technologies to enhance research capabilities
  • Present research findings to internal and external stakeholders. Prepare scientific publications, proposals, and reports
  • Ensure all research activities comply with regulatory requirements and ethical standards. Implement best practices for the research process
