Summary

Join Ultragenyx and make a difference in the lives of rare disease patients as a Patient Access Liaison (PAL). This field-based role focuses on minimizing access and reimbursement barriers for patients and providers using Dojolvi. You will work closely with internal and external partners, including healthcare professionals and specialty pharmacies, to resolve reimbursement issues. The PAL requires deep knowledge of public and private payer policies and involves significant travel. Requirements

  • 5 to 7 years of prior patient access and reimbursement experience required
  • BA/BS in the life sciences or communications required
  • Ability to travel 50-60% w/ some overnights to internal meetings and/or to meet with patients and/or customers
  • Prior reimbursement experience with ability to communicate complex reimbursement scenarios to patients and medical professionals
  • Highly motivated, shows initiative, is proactive and able to work within a team
  • Individual must possess extraordinary positive attitude, exceptional listening skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Personalized coordination of patient care using a multi-disciplinary team approach
  • Reimbursement conflict resolution with assigned patients and accounts
  • Provide resource for possible reimbursement education to patients and families to ensure that they are well informed in order to make appropriate decisions regarding their treatment options
  • Resource, with case manager, for alternative insurance options for patients and provide information on relevant reimbursement topics related to our products
  • Resource to providers/hospitals regarding billing, reimbursement and procurement options
  • Meet with patients/caregivers and healthcare professionals to discuss access issues and address solutions
  • Provide education and support to assist patients/families gain access to therapy and maintain that access
  • Ongoing support of the UltraCare team and when necessary, working as a liaison between UltraCare and our customers
  • Travel to internal meetings and external customers as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA/MHA preferred
  • 3 to 5 years informal management experience preferred
  • Experience training and leading peer groups recommended
