Backend Team Lead

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience using PHP and/or Typescript
• 3+ years of experience working on backend systems in production
• 2+ years building high-availability applications in AWS
• Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming and principles (SOLID, KISS, DRY)
• Experience with Clean Architecture, event-driven systems, and serverless design
• Strong organizational and leadership skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Responsibilities

• Establish high standards in technical execution, team organization, and leadership
• Mentor team members in time management, prioritization, and personal development
• Promote research and innovation to keep technology and processes competitive
• Continuously improve code quality and engineering best practices
• Build and maintain a cohesive and motivated team with a clear technical vision
• Collaborate in recruitment processes for developers, team leads, and architects
• Coordinate effectively with other technical and project leadership roles
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all backend development matters
• Conduct regular 1:1 meetings to monitor team member progress and well-being
• Lead and facilitate team meetings, ensuring clear action items and accountability
• Define and monitor the team’s short- and long-term objectives
• Manage team schedules, including vacations, leaves, and resource planning
• Identify and address training needs through internal, external, or cross-functional programs
• Define individual development goals and career paths tailored to each team member
• Conduct annual performance evaluations and provide actionable feedback
• Assess team growth needs and plan future hiring accordingly
• Oversee and optimize the onboarding experience for new hires
• Organize, prioritize, and define tasks for the team effectively
• Ensure proper backlog grooming and task alignment with project deadlines
• Conduct code and deliverable reviews to maintain high quality
• Promote efficient workflows, processes, and the use of appropriate tools
• Guide the team in adopting architectural and coding best practices
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs
• Provide hands-on support in resolving complex technical issues
• Actively contribute to technical design and production-ready code when needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience managing development teams
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and DevOps environments
• Proficiency in technical English
