Summary
Join Foresight Diagnostics, a molecular diagnostics company developing non-invasive cancer detection technologies, as a Bioinformatics Scientist. You will develop algorithms for detecting circulating tumor DNA, extract biological signals from molecular data using machine learning and statistics, and work with wetlab scientists to design experiments and interpret results. This role requires expertise in genomics, molecular diagnostics, and liquid biopsy, applying the latest technologies to academic and pharmaceutical partnerships. The position offers flexibility for fully onsite, hybrid, or remote work (with quarterly travel to Colorado for remote employees). You will contribute to the strategy of Foresight’s research programs and work both independently and collaboratively. The salary range is $110,718 - $147,463, and equity offerings are available.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, statistics, computer science, or related fields
- At least five years of experience developing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data pipelines, using standard NGS bioinformatics tools (e.g. samtools, bedtools, BWA, IGV), and accessing external genomic databases (e.g. TCGA, COSMIC)
- Strong data analysis and visualization skills, leveraging relevant Python or R packages (scipy, numpy, matplotlib, pandas, ggplot2, dplyr)
- Experience with algorithm development and statistics, demonstrated by a track record of applying them to relevant scientific problems
- Proficiency with Python, R, or similar programming languages, comfortable working in a Linux server-based environment, and familiar with developing code with GitHub
- Ability to work with both computational and experimental scientists in our highly collaborative environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for both scientific and general audiences
Responsibilities
- Apply expert knowledge of molecular and computational biology to generate and interpret results for Foresight’s academic and pharmaceutical partners
- Inform experimental design and provide real-time assessments of assay performance & quality control
- Deliver analysis, interpretation, and reporting of results using cloud-based bioinformatic pipelines
- Manage multiple simultaneous project timelines and data deliverables
- Identify and communicate cumulative insights to both internal (e.g. computational and experimental teams) and external stakeholders
- Keep Foresight at the forefront of clinical diagnostics by identifying and developing technological improvements through insights gained from accumulating partnership data
