Summary
Join ALU, a higher education institution with a focus on real-world skills development, as a purpose-driven copywriter. You will create engaging content across various platforms to attract and convert leads into students. Your work will amplify ALU's message and contribute to the development of future African leaders. Responsibilities include writing compelling copy for emails, website content, landing pages, blog posts, brochures, and social media. You will also collaborate with other teams, edit content, manage projects, and analyze data to improve content performance. The ideal candidate possesses strong writing skills, understands conversion and persuasion techniques, and has a demonstrated portfolio of work. Experience in advertising or development communications is preferred.
Requirements
- Strong writing skills for different audiences and formats
- Able to create compelling messages that convey the stories through digital platforms including micro, short, and long-form copy
- Passionate about the creation of content with an understanding of how tone of voice and storytelling generate engagement
- Understand conversion and persuasion copy to influence leads, prospects, and customers
- Work well under pressure and is capable of remaining focused despite rapidly changing priorities and competing deadlines
- Able to analyse project requirements and provide accurate turnaround timelines, manages time well and thrives with autonomy
- Demonstrated portfolio of work
Responsibilities
- Write compelling copy for the different ALU platforms and channels thatβs always clear, consistent, human and in line with ALU Brand Personality
- Writing compelling emails as part of larger campaigns or individual engagement emails
- Creating and updating engaging content for the ALU Website including website optimization
- Providing creating and strategic copy for landing pages and ad campaigns
- Writing and/or editing blog content
- Creating engaging copy for different ALU brochures, one-pagers, etc
- Collaborating with the social media and video content team to write copy
- Write copy for a variety of media including social, print, video, and online
- Edit and proof work to ensure high editorial standards are met across all content outputs
- Create engaging, interactive, real-time and evergreen copy that promote the ALU Brand Essence through Annual Reports, Impact Reports and PR initiatives
- Manage projects to meet deadlines with high-quality deliverables
- Analyse the external social and digital landscape to set up benchmarks and continually innovate
- Continuously improve digital content ideas and executions by analyzing data and insights
- Propose real-time content based on global trends and relevant conversations
- Other duties as assigned
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all young persons and vulnerable adults with whom we deal,Β by adhering to ALUβs comprehensive safeguarding policy, maintaining a zero-tolerance approach to any violations of safeguarding standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Advertising agency and development communications experience is highly preferred
- Bilingual (English and French) copywriting experience preferred but not required
