Business Analyst

Summary

Join our team as a Business Analyst 3 and contribute to data modernization initiatives in Azure. This remote position in Richmond, VA, is a 12+ month contract. You will gather and document business requirements for complex data solutions, working with agile delivery teams and stakeholders. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in business systems analysis for medium to large projects, including data analytics, reporting, and enterprise application implementation. Proficiency in data visualization tools (Power BI), Microsoft data engineering tools (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Databricks), and Microsoft Office 365 Suite is preferred. Experience with election-related projects is also highly desired.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience working on a software development project
• Proven working experience as a business systems analyst for medium to large projects
• Strong understanding of data modeling, data mapping and data integration techniques
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Suite, VISIO, Draw.io, ADO, JIRA and Confluence
• Ability to meet deadlines with minimal direct supervision
• Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills

Responsibilities

• Gather and document business requirements for complex data solutions
• Deliver written project deliverables and communicate to stakeholders at all levels
• Lead requirements-gathering sessions, including workshops, interviews, and document analysis, to capture detailed business needs
• Accurately translate system and business requirements into epics, features and stories
• Write UAT test scripts and be proficient in UAT testing
• Identify and document project risks and actions to mitigate risks
• Track requirements throughout the SDLC lifecycle
• Communicate and collaborate with agile delivery teams and other technical staff, business partners and vendors

Preferred Qualifications

• Past experience contributing to data modernization initiatives in Azure
• Familiarity with Microsoft data engineering tools (e.g., SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Databricks)
• Experience using data visualization tools like Power BI
• Election experience
• Focused experience on data analytics, reporting, data engineering, or enterprise application implementation
