Join Function, a leading infrastructure layer for making Bitcoin a productive asset across DeFi, as a Business Development Lead. You will play a key role in driving FBTC's growth across DeFi ecosystems, integrating with retail platforms, and fostering institutional adoption. Collaborate closely with the CEO and core contributors to shape strategies, validate go-to-market approaches, and lead execution with high-impact partners and institutional LPs. This role demands structured strategic thinking, fast-paced execution, and professional relationship management. You will own your domain, source and structure deals, and deliver tangible results. The position requires a blend of strategic thinking, crypto-native execution, and institutional relationship management. You'll be responsible for driving growth and expanding FBTC's reach within the DeFi space.
Requirements
- Understanding of BTCFi, LSTs, cross-chain markets, and vault mechanics
- Understanding of institutional market structure
- Can source, structure, and close deals
- Can move from market mapping to experiments to execution
- Prefer 0→1 environments with ambiguity and velocity
- Can work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teammates
- Structured in thinking, clear in writing, persuasive in BD
Responsibilities
- Facilitate structured sprints to identify and rank growth opportunities: chain expansion, LP onboarding, partner integrations
- Develop frameworks to prioritize initiatives across impact, effort, and timing
- Lead lightweight go-to-market tests to validate assumptions (e.g., pilots)
- Reduce time-to-feedback through direct experimentation
- Own outreach to partners (L2s, DeFi protocols, vault managers, wallets, institutions)
- Source, structure and drive the deal flow opportunities from conversation to deployment
- Nurture existing relationships with key partners and clients
- Establish repeatable mechanisms for prioritization, learning, and directional refinement
- Turn ambiguity into structured bets
- Ensure coordination across BD, marketing, and product
- Maintain clear documentation, KPIs, and check-in cadences for strategic alignment
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-6+ years of prior experience in strategy, ecosystem, or business development roles at leading crypto protocols, b2c platforms or institutions
- Familiarity with BTC yield primitives and ecosystem infrastructure
- Understanding of Traditional Finance concepts
- Demonstrated ability to source, close, and scale partnerships
- Experience working across chains (EVM, Solana, etc), protocols, exchanges and institutions
- Proven ability to lead strategic projects with minimal oversight
- You’ve helped grow a DeFi protocol from early traction to scale
- You’ve launched or scaled flywheel-driven revenue initiatives
- You’ve contributed to DAO governance, incentive models, or tokenomics design
- You’ve built or executed cross-chain integration strategies
