Summary
Join the Sierra Club as a Campaign Manager for the Beyond Coal Campaign! Based in a local Sierra Club office or remotely within the Western US, this role requires travel. You will manage campaign staff, develop strategies, and build teams to achieve campaign goals. Responsibilities include strategic planning, team leadership, leveraging organizational capacity, supporting fundraising, and representing the Sierra Club in partnerships and advocacy. The position demands significant organizing and campaigning experience, strong project management skills, and a commitment to equity and justice. Requirements
- Significant experience as an organizer and/or campaigner
- Prior experience and/or demonstrated ability in developing, training, and coaching teams of staff and volunteers in achieving shared goals
- Track record of successful campaigns, delivering impactful victories and building enduring power
- Demonstrated effective oversight in implementing campaign plans
- Track record of managing multiple projects or campaigns across teams of staff and volunteer leaders
- Understanding of environmental, climate, and social justice issues and how they relate to each other
- Skillful at managing individuals and leading teams with a diversity of identities and skill sets to contribute at their highest level
- Proficient at proactively surfacing and navigating conflict in a generative, equitable way, and providing timely feedback
- Committed to evolution. You are committed to continuously deepening and evolving your own understanding of systems of oppression through study, openness, and humility. And you easily recognize your own relationship to privilege and power, examining and shifting your behaviors as appropriate

Responsibilities
- Develop campaign strategy, goals, and guide and direct campaign staff in a locale to develop, execute and evaluate plans to deliver outcomes that measurably advance our overarching organizational and campaign goals centered in equity, justice, and inclusion
- Convene, or direct campaign staff to convene, multi-disciplinary campaign teams to design and implement campaign strategies in a locale
- Identify, track, and deliver on campaign outcomes, design state and regional campaign strategies in alignment with our overarching strategies, and identify and elevate emergent strategic priorities in the region
- Serve as an issue-area expert internally and externally with partners, in coalitions, and with the media
- Manage, coach, and lead staff and build teams: Manage campaign organizing staff in assigned states towards achieving local, state, and national priorities
- Coach direct reports to build teams and state strategic plans that build enduring power in states while realizing the Sierra Club’s 2030 goals
- Leads and coordinates with digital strategies, communications, the Environmental Law Program, federal policy, and Chapter staff to advance [campaign] outcomes
- Develops grassroots, movement-building, and related strategic analyses to be included in campaign strategy development
- In partnership with campaign directors and other key staff, support the fundraising activities of the Beyond Coal Campaign
- Meet with high-net-worth individuals and foundations, partnering with the Office of Advancement on proposal development, presentations, and reports
- Support the Campaign Director to allocate resources, develop budgets, and ensure the campaign’s resources are directed toward the most important strategic opportunities
- In coordination with staff and volunteers, represents Sierra Club priorities to public officials
- Coordinates with state leadership on political accountability and electoral activity
- Facilitates Sierra Club representation in local, state, and national coalitions
- Represents Sierra Club in the media and serves as a spokesperson
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in electoral politics or legislative processes is a plus
- Experience with project management software is a plus
- Budget and/or Fundraising Experience. Experience managing a budget and/or fundraising
- Experience managing complex budgets with multiple funding streams is a plus
- Experience in the development of grant proposals and building and maintaining individual donor relationships
- Understanding and experience with electoral campaigns and/or legislative advocacy strategies
- Track record of leveraging those strategies to achieve issue campaign outcomes
