Summary
Join NAPAWF as their Chief Development Officer (CDO) and play a pivotal role in furthering their mission of empowering AAPI women and girls. Partner with the Executive Director to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising and marketing strategies. Lead and manage a team of development professionals, overseeing all aspects of fundraising, from individual giving to major gifts and corporate partnerships. Maintain donor records, plan special events, and ensure compliance with regulations. The CDO will also contribute to strategic decision-making as a core member of the executive leadership team. This is a remote or hybrid position with a preference for candidates located in New York City, San Francisco, or Los Angeles. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in fundraising, team leadership, and nonprofit management.
Requirements
- Proven ability to drive strategic impact within mission-driven organizations
- Strong emotional intelligence, with experience in relationship-building, conflict resolution, and fostering a supportive team culture
- Demonstrated commitment to NAPAWF’s mission, values, and advocacy priorities
- A track record of bold and courageous leadership, with a learning mindset and a willingness to challenge the status quo
- Minimum of 15 years of experience as a leader and manager, preferably within a national or regional organization with a dispersed staff, including at least 10 years of executive leadership experience
- Proven experience fundraising for an organization with an annual budget of at least $10 million
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit finance, compliance, and accounting regulations
- Exceptional management skills with the ability to influence and engage both direct and indirect reports as well as peers
- Demonstrated cultural competency and a track record of maintaining strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Knowledge of, experience with, or demonstrated commitment to issues affecting AAPI communities, as well as reproductive rights, racial justice, and economic justice
Responsibilities
- In partnership with the Executive Director (ED), plan and implement annual and long-term development and marketing strategies outlining goals, objectives, and action steps for individual, foundation, corporate, government, planned giving, special events, and in-kind giving. Special emphasis is placed on strengthening major gift and individual donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
- Provide professional leadership to the Board of Directors, relevant committees, and development/marketing staff in developing and implementing strategies to support fundraising goals
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential donor and prospect records. Oversee the organization’s donor database, including regular updates, clean-up, and analysis of giving patterns to identify prospective donors
- In partnership with the ED, plan and produce special events designed to meet income targets and raise community awareness
- Build and manage an effective development team to implement a strategic, integrated marketing and communications plan that strengthens brand positioning and public familiarity. Plan elements include internal and external communications, spokesperson training, website content, digital media, and print collateral
- Stay informed about government regulations and philanthropic trends, and proactively identify new opportunities and potential funding sources
- Serve as lead development staff to the Board of Directors, collaborating to meet the goals outlined in the department’s annual plan
- Provide organizational leadership as a member of the executive leadership team
- Prepare monthly and annual reports and analysis for the ED to inform strategic decision-making
- Actively contribute to and participate in the development of the organization’s annual budget
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of NAPAWF’s mission and strategic development objectives
