Summary

Join Shopmonkey as their visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO), leading the engineering and technology strategy. As a key member of the executive team, you will drive the technical direction, build a world-class engineering culture, and deliver high-performance solutions. Accountabilities include setting the long-term technology vision, implementing emerging technologies, leading and scaling a high-performing engineering team, and overseeing architecture decisions. You will ensure system security and compliance, build and enforce engineering best practices, and optimize development processes. Collaboration with other teams and communication with stakeholders are crucial. This role also involves translating business needs into technical strategies and roadmaps for board discussions and investor meetings.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, with 5+ years in a technology leadership role as a senior VP or CTO in a SaaS company
  • Proven track record scaling platforms and technology organizations in a high-growth environment, scaling from $10m to $50m, to $500m ARR, etc
  • Deep knowledge of modern web technologies (e.g., React, Node.js, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of security, privacy, and compliance in cloud environments
  • Ability to jump from long term strategic planning to hands-on detailed customer scenarios with ease
  • Depth of experience leveraging AI tools and integrations for internal and customer facing use cases
  • Excellent cross departmental and stakeholder communication skills to create transparency, manage expectations, and garner alignment on technology roadmap and progress

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the long-term technology vision aligned with Shopmonkey’s business objectives
  • Implement emerging technologies to enhance Shopmonkey’s customer experience, constantly pushing our leading-edge innovation
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering leadership team across backend, frontend, infrastructure, and QA
  • Instill a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee architecture decisions for scalability, performance, and reliability across a complex Enterprise and SMB SaaS platform
  • Ensure our systems are secure, compliant, and robust to meet SOC 2 Type II controls and beyond
  • Build and enforce engineering best practices, delivery velocity, and code quality standards
  • Optimize development processes, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices to increase both speed of development with quality of delivery
  • Partner closely with Sales, Product, Design, and Customer Experience teams to align technical initiatives with the needs of our customers
  • Work directly with the CEO and executive team on broader company-wide strategy and execution beyond the technology org
  • Translate business needs into technical strategy and roadmaps, representing these in board discussions and investor meetings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in vertical SaaS, auto industry tools, or small business platforms
  • Background working with distributed engineering teams
