Summary
Niantic is seeking a dynamic Commercial Counsel with at least 5 years of legal experience to join their Legal team. The role involves diverse agreement negotiations, internal partnership optimization, legal process design, and creative problem-solving for AR-related legal issues. The candidate should be a member in good standing of the California Bar or eligible as Registered In-House Counsel.
Requirements
- 5+ years of legal practice at both a well-regarded law firm and a corporate legal department
- Experience negotiating and drafting a range of legal agreements; enterprise experience is a plus
- Highly responsive, client service-oriented attitude
- Strong desire to take initiative and, when needed, to work independently to problem-solve effectively
- Intellectual curiosity and interest in the technology industry
- Member in good standing of the California Bar, or eligible to register as Registered In-House Counsel
- Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment and handle stress appropriately and/or ability to solve practical problems and be sufficiently adaptable to handle dynamic situations with little advance notice
- Experience working on cross-functional teams with ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communications, including synchronous interactions with others
Responsibilities
- Review, draft, and negotiate diverse agreements (inbound services, technology and IP licenses, SaaS, sponsorships, etc.) ensuring alignment with Niantic's policies and risk parameters
- Partner with internal stakeholders to optimize partnership with the business, and to ensure agreements are consistent with internal corporate policies and processes
- Contribute to the design and continuous improvement of standard forms, trainings, legal processes and systems
- Think creatively about novel legal issues arising from AR and real-world location-based games
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members and stakeholders, including regular and reliable attendance and participation in meetings
Benefits
The total compensation package for this position includes a new hire offer base salary range of $196,200 - $218,000 + bonus + equity + benefits
