Join Distinguished Programs as a Commercial Lines Renewal Underwriter specializing in multi-family, landlord, apartment, and condo insurance. This role involves ensuring accurate underwriting information, determining eligibility, maintaining well-documented files, addressing questions, resolving issues, and servicing change requests. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial property underwriting experience
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Commercial Real Estate Insurance knowledge required

Responsibilities

  • Handle renewal accounts through outbound interaction with various carriers and brokers
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with internal sales staff on new business submissions
  • Underwrite habitational risks by identifying and analyzing risk exposures, loss frequency and severity against desired coverage
  • Develop relationships with both external and internal customers, with the "customer experience" in mind, and deliver exceptional experiences with every interaction, in all modes of communication
  • Provide and create solutions for a broad range of inquiries from brokers and team members
  • Adhere to rating rules with proper file documentation
  • Navigate our online broker portal to complete tasks and troubleshoot
  • Identify opportunities to improve underwriting efficiencies
  • Work independently within deadlines while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with stakeholders
  • Obtain and understand market intel and trends
  • Handle work with a focus on underwriting profitability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of habitational P&C policies preferred
  • Property and Casualty insurance license preferred (6 months preparation time permitted)
  • Eager for continual learning; professional designations are a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including negotiation skills
  • Must be self-driven, detail-oriented, comfortable in a growing ever-changing organization, and have strong organizational skills including time-management and prioritization
  • Some travel may be required from time to time for team and broker meetings

  • $70,000 - $85,000 base salary plus bonus. Salary commensurate with knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location
