Summary

Join Calvary Church's Communications Team as their new Communications Coordinator! This role blends creativity and faith, managing all aspects of the church's digital presence and communications. You will design and produce weekly publications, manage social media, create engaging visual content, maintain the church website, and oversee advertising and promotional campaigns. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in communications, social media, and graphic design, along with proficiency in various digital tools. A strong understanding of Episcopal or Anglican Church values is a plus. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary and benefits package, including work-from-home flexibility.

Requirements

  • 5 years or more experience with communications, social media, and graphic design
  • Demonstrated experience in digital marketing, social media management, and content creation
  • Proficiency in: Google Docs, MailChimp, WordPress, Canva (or Adobe Creative Suite) Facebook, Instagram, YouTube (Meta Business Suite, YouTube Studio) Video editing tools (e.g., CapCut, Canva, Premiere, or similar)
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a faith-based environment
  • A creative, flexible, and enthusiastic spirit with a pastoral sensitivity to tone and messaging

Responsibilities

  • Design and produce weekly worship bulletins in Google Docs
  • Create and distribute weekly e-newsletters via MailChimp
  • Write engaging and pastoral copy for bulletins, emails, and website in the church’s brand voice
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with Calvary’s mission, vision, and targeted audiences
  • Build and manage a social media content calendar for Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube
  • Create engaging content including photos, stories, spiritual reflections, quotes,and promotional materials
  • Clip and caption sermon videos and livestream content for posting
  • Respond to comments and messages in a timely and pastoral manner
  • Design graphics for social media, website, e-news, slides, posters, and other digital/print media
  • Create a visually inspiring Annual Report and other seasonal publications (e.g.,Lent, Advent, Stewardship)
  • Ensure all designs follow Calvary’s brand style guide for visual consistency
  • Maintain and update the church’s WordPress website, ensuring timely and accurate content
  • Optimize pages for search engine visibility (SEO) using keywords, metadata, and quality writing
  • Track site performance and analytics to inform future strategy
  • Design and place ads for special services and events on digital platforms and in print
  • Oversee the Google Ad Grant for nonprofits, managing pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns, keywords, and tracking ROI
  • Analyze data and adjust campaigns for greater effectiveness and reach
  • Manage and schedule church-wide and targeted text message campaigns using Gloo text service, including: ○ Event reminders ○ Worship invitations ○ Pastoral follow-ups ○ Community engagement messaging
  • Segment audiences and personalize communication where appropriate
  • Monitor message performance and update strategies accordingly
  • Develop systems to gather and organize content from ministry leaders and staff
  • Coordinate event promotion and communications across departments
  • Maintain editorial and communications calendars
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and actively participate in church life and planning
  • Track metrics for email campaigns, social media engagement, ad performance, and website traffic
  • Produce regular reports and recommendations based on analytics
  • Adjust strategies to meet goals and improve communication effectiveness
  • Lead or support communications for: ○ Lent, Advent, and Holy Week services ○ Stewardship campaigns ○ VBS or children/youth events ○ Community outreach initiatives
  • Create supporting documents, landing pages, signage, and more as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Google Ad Grant or similar PPC platforms preferred
  • Familiarity with Episcopal or Anglican Church liturgy, values, and mission a strong plus
