Summary

Join Plivo, a cloud communications platform, as Compliance Counsel to ensure company operations comply with laws, regulations, and internal policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from an accredited institution
  • Admission to the Bar Council of India
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in compliance, preferably within the technology or SaaS industry
  • Strong background in Indian regulatory frameworks, data privacy, IT laws, corporate secretarial compliance, and labor law
  • Experience in a similar role at a technology company or law firm advising technology clients is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interpret regulatory requirements and changes in laws affecting the SaaS products
  • Develop and implement compliance programs to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations, including telecom laws, data privacy laws (e.g., CCPA, GDPR, HIPPA, IT Act, PDP etc.)
  • Provide guidance on regulatory issues to various departments, including Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and standards
  • Develop and maintain data protection policies and practices
  • Conduct data privacy impact assessments and manage data breach response activities
  • Draft, review, and update company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct training and awareness programs for employees on compliance and ethical business practices
  • Identify and assess compliance risks associated with business operations and SaaS products
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to ensure ongoing adherence to policies and regulations
  • Conduct internal investigations into compliance violations or ethical concerns
  • Provide recommendations and oversee corrective actions
  • Review and advise on compliance-related aspects of contracts, including vendor agreements and customer contracts
  • Ensure contracts comply with relevant laws and internal policies
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements
  • Ensure compliance with Indian labor laws and employment regulations
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in line with legal requirements
  • Advise on employee relations, disputes, and disciplinary actions
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities
  • Prepare and submit regulatory filings and reports as required
