Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience in Use Tax, Sales Tax, and CDTFA reporting
  • Compliance Documentation & Entity Management – Experience handling entity formation, dissolutions, SOS filings, and maintaining business compliance records
  • Accounting Knowledge – Understanding of general accounting principles to support accurate tax filings and payment processes
  • Communication & Client Support – Ability to educate clients on compliance requirements, liaise with tax agencies, and resolve inquiries effectively
  • Organizational & Time Management Skills – Strong ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain detailed documentation

Responsibilities

  • Process sales, use, and cannabis excise tax filings with the CDTFA and other state/local agencies
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of tax payments on behalf of clients, maintaining clear documentation
  • Handle entity formation, dissolutions, maintenance, and change of entity type filings to ensure compliance
  • Educate clients on state and local tax regulations, including CDTFA setup and filing processes
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for tax agencies, managing inquiries and resolving issues on behalf of clients
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of all tax filings, client communications, and compliance actions
  • Assist with additional tax, compliance, and administrative tasks as required by managers or supervisors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CDTFA Portal – Hands-on experience setting up and managing CDTFA accounts for clients
  • Advanced Accounting Software Skills – Proficiency in tools like QuickBooks, Xero, or other accounting platforms for efficient tax filing and documentation
  • Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to identify compliance issues and propose effective solutions proactively
  • Experience Handling Multi-State Tax Filings – Understanding of sales and use tax compliance across various state jurisdictions
