Summary

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma: required (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • 2 or more years of experience as a consumer loan underwriter required
  • Knowledge of financial institution policies and procedures
  • Possess good sales, organizational, managerial, communication and public relations skills, particularly in working with documentation that requires special or confidential handling
  • Proficient with the Bank’s loan application processing system and Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and accurately in a deadline driven environment
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations relating to consumer lending

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, review, and approve/decline all consumer loan requests in one or more of the following areas: consumer, auto, home improvement, open-end credit requests, and lines of credit for borrowers
  • Develop sound credit judgment of applicants
  • Responsible for approving loans within assigned lending limits using the Bank's loan application processing system
  • Responsible for assembling and verifying the accuracy of documentation for loans
  • Responsible for contributing to the Bank's profitability by making consumer loans which meet Bank standards for economic value and safety
  • Responsible for contributing to the Bank's favorable image in the community by carrying out loan activities in a manner promoting customer goodwill
  • Responsible for servicing existing loan accounts and handling the modification of terms
  • Responsible for complying with policies, procedures, security requirements, and government regulations
