Summary

Join Walden University as a Contributing Faculty member for our Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program! Your primary responsibility will be to chair and/or serve on doctoral committees, providing methodological and content expertise. You will support students in a distance learning environment, fostering Walden's Community of Care and DEI practices. Occasional teaching opportunities may arise. Availability to students outside of online discussions is crucial, with timely responses to student inquiries expected. A terminal degree in Business Administration or a related field is required, along with experience serving on doctoral committees and a strong research methodology background. Walden provides technology access, and compensation varies based on factors like course type and experience.

Requirements

  • Hold a terminal degree in Business Administration (PhD, DBA) or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Provide proof of serving on doctoral committees for at least 1 year (Preferably Chair of the committee)
  • Provide evidence of continuing scholarly or creative work within the past 5 years
  • Be proficient in APA 7th edition
  • Possess a strong research methodology background in quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed methods in research
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relation skills
  • Have experience working in an online instructional setting at the graduate level
  • Provide your own laptop
  • Use the Walden University Learning Management System and the Microsoft 365 tools with their assigned Walden email addresses in their Walden activities
  • Be able to use Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Have reliable Internet access as well as alternate access in cases where primary access becomes unavailable

Responsibilities

  • Chair and/or serve as second members on doctoral committees as methodologists and/or content experts
  • Independently support the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment
  • Foster Waldenโ€™s Community of Care philosophy and intentional integration of DEI practices
  • Instruct content courses or instruct research methodology courses (if credentialed and based on student enrollment)
  • Participate in Mentor Training
  • Embrace diverse, process-learning approaches resulting in outcomes of academic quality and integrity
  • Demonstrate knowledge of an inquiry-action model of education fostering applied research, discovery, and critical thinking that results in curiosity, lifelong learning, and positive contributions to societal wellbeing
  • Ensure the curriculum enhances the social good through graduates who commit to making positive, enduring impacts by creating healthy communities
  • Maintain collaborative, collegial, and positive relationships and communications with other faculty members
  • Be reasonably accessible to students
  • Be available to students outside of the online asynchronous course discussion board
  • Provide substantive feedback on student submissions
  • Publish availability to students through course syllabi, instructor information in the classroom, or other appropriate documents
  • Post to classroom discussion boards a minimum of 4 days per week and post responses to studentโ€™s questions within 48 hours
  • Verify the quality of student submissions, and provide feedback and grades to students through the online classroom

Preferred Qualifications

Preference given to candidates with a strong quantitative research methodology background

Benefits

  • Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Opportunities for dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring
  • Walden e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, university and college cloud services, and other faculty communications tools
