Summary

Join Walden University's School of Nursing as a PhD program faculty member and share your expertise in nursing education with students nationwide. This remote position offers flexibility to work on your own schedule while maintaining other commitments. Walden provides comprehensive training in online teaching techniques and Walden University's policies and procedures. The role requires an MSN and a PhD in nursing or a related field, along with a distinguished record of scholarship and active RN licensure. Compensation is based on factors such as course type, experience, and location, with additional opportunities for dissertation committee work and research reviewing.

Requirements

  • Earned master's degree in nursing (MSN) AND an earned Doctorate/PHD (preferably in Nursing or closely related field) from an accredited institution
  • Expertise in areas of research/scholarship, theory, nursing education
  • A distinguished record of scholarship including externally funded research and peer reviewed publications in Nursing education
  • Evidence of current, active & unrestricted RN licensure in one of the 50 states in the US
  • Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students
  • Excellent communication, team, and human-relations skills
  • PhD in Nursing or PhD in other appropriate discipline with expertise in research methods
  • Active RN license
  • Evidence of program of scholarship
  • 1 to 2 years of online teaching in a master’s or higher nursing program

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses using the CANVAS platform, interacting with students through discussion boards
  • Respond to student questions within 48 hours, maintaining a minimum of 4 days per week in the online classroom
  • Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations
  • If participating in research, publish and acknowledge Walden University
  • Serve as committee chair, first or second member of doctoral project study committees
  • May be asked to serve as University Research Reviewers
  • Instruct methodology courses or modules when needed
  • Participate in program and university based residencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Online teaching experience
  • Experience serving on dissertation committees

Benefits

  • Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Walden also offers other opportunities for its contributing faculty members, such as dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring
