Summary
Join Trellis, a thriving Series A startup, as their experienced Controller. You will spearhead the company's financial accounting and operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial insights. This high-ownership role demands day-to-day accounting management, financial reporting, and compliance adherence. You will also play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, leveraging your expertise to optimize cash management and working capital. Collaboration with financial leadership and outsourced bookkeepers is essential. Trellis offers a remote work environment, competitive compensation, and growth opportunities.
Requirements
- Minimum 6 years professional experience
- CPA designation
- Professional accounting firm experience
- Experience in a mid- to senior-level accounting role at a high growth operating company (ideally you are already a controller in a similar environment)
- Independently led an audit or QoE process for a private company
- Had exposure to multi-entity accounting, ideally having worked directly in a business with multiple entities and intercompany cash requirements
- Analytical horsepower to interpret our financials to understand key drivers and changes in our business
- Strategic business acumen to identify opportunities for improvement in our business
- Ability to independently craft work plans and execute against them for 3-4 weeks at a time
- Low ego and a willingness to roll up your sleeves
Responsibilities
- Orchestrate and manage financial operations and processes that are accurate, simple and seamless
- Refine Trellisโ accounting practices, policies and procedures to maintain compliance with financial reporting standards and keep a generally pristine set of books
- Deliver highly accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting
- Support the budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes
- Upgrade Trellisโ cash management, liquidity and working capital practices, transforming them into a strategic lever for the business
- Run point on any audits or quality of earnings assessments
- Ensure the business is compliant with all tax requirements, and deliver strategies for effectively managing our tax liabilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Been through an M&A process (not a hard requirement)
- Had exposure to insurance technology in another role
