Lead and oversee US and consolidated general ledger accounting and operations, including period-end close processes. Ensure efficient and effective financial and accounting operations, playing a key role in process automation and strengthening corporate governance through internal controls. Requirements
- 6+ years of relevant experience in public accounting and/or a tech startup organization
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting, SOX controls and financial reporting
- Systems proficiency with NetSuite and Coupa
- Hands-on experience in managing corporate accounting operations and performing accounting analysis
- Positive attitude and ability to be flexible with shifting priorities, especially during month-end, quarter-end or year-end close cycles
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, namely Excel
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask, thrive and meet time-sensitive deadlines in a high-growth environment is a must
- Work primarily remotely / from home; ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with strong ownership of the function will be critical
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily accounting activities and period-end close processes, to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting
- Ensure that we record, categorize, allocate, review, reconcile and consolidate financial information promptly across the entire organization, including the consolidation and elimination of intercompany impacts across multiple locations/sites and legal entities
- Participate in the accounts payable and procurement processes and understand their impact on financial statements
- Must have the confidence to question the integrity and purpose of accounting transactions and understand the consequences of non-compliance with Company policy (e.g., sign-offs/delegations of authority, support documentation, business necessity, pricing reasonableness)
- Assist in the preparation of financial statement fluctuations to identify trends, anomalies, or areas requiring further investigation
- Provide explanations and analysis as necessary to management
- Ensure compliance with SOX through the performance of control procedures
- Collaborate with both internal and external auditors to facilitate audits
- Support automating manual accounting processes with the general ledger and identify process improvement
- Develop, update, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to reflect new accounting standards and business needs
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including finance teams, senior management, and external auditors
- Clearly articulate financial information, accounting policies, and recommendations to non-financial stakeholders
- Prepare technical accounting memos on an ad-hoc basis to document accounting positions/elections or complex transactions, including mergers & acquisitions, strategic investments, derivatives, etc on an ad-hoc basis
