Summary

Join Masabi, a global leader in fare payment technology, as their hands-on Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This pivotal role combines architectural ownership, technical leadership, and product vision to drive global transit transformation. You will define and evolve Masabi's long-term technical strategy, ensuring platform stability and integrity. The position offers flexibility, with options for a traditional CTO role managing a 150-person engineering team or a more hands-on technical focus, supported by a strong Senior Director of Engineering and Chief Product Officer. You will champion AI-driven innovation, foster a positive engineering culture, and collaborate across departments. The role also involves strategic customer engagements and ensuring compliance standards. This remote-first position is open to candidates in Colombia, with occasional travel.

Requirements

  • You have extensive leadership experience in software engineering in SaaS and complex B2B environments
  • You are a hands-on technical leader who remains close to code and architecture while also capable of scaling teams and strategy
  • You bring expert-level knowledge of distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, and modern, scalable infrastructure
  • You’ve led engineering across multiple functions, including development, operations, and compliance
  • You’ve successfully embedded AI/ML into production systems, with measurable outcomes in either product or internal efficiency
  • You’re a clear communicator, cross-functional collaborator, and thoughtful leader who thrives in complex, mission-driven environments

Responsibilities

  • Define and continuously evolve Masabi’s long-term technical strategy aligned with scalable growth
  • Take full accountability for platform stability, extensibility and technical integrity
  • Guide architectural decision-making with clarity and pragmatism
  • Maintain hands-on connection with our code and systems, leading by example to model engineering excellence
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI/ML/Predictive Analytics across our product suite, internal tools, and operations
  • Foster a culture of responsible experimentation, AI fluency, and continuous learning
  • Lead, support, and develop our community of Engineers
  • Champion a culture of excellence, psychological safety, and inclusion
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across Engineering, Product, Business Development, and Professional Services to align priorities and outcomes
  • Manage Incident and Problem Management functions to ensure a consistent, high-quality customer experience
  • Work closely with Product and Business Development to shape impactful platform enhancements
  • Represent Masabi in strategic customer and partner conversations involving architecture, security, compliance, and integration
  • Lead or support technical due diligence and platform integration during mergers, acquisitions, or strategic partnerships
  • Ensure platform alignment with compliance standards including SOC2, ISO27001, and PCI
  • Bring experience navigating technical transformation during periods of significant organisational growth

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in mobility, payments, fintech, or highly available enterprise SaaS
  • Involvement in platform re-architecture, system integrations, or M&A-related transformations
  • Comfort working in regulated or security-sensitive environments
