Summary

Join Mediavine's Engineering team as a Data Analyst II and contribute to a product used by thousands of publishers. Collaborate with various teams to develop analytic tools, anticipate business needs, and inform the analytics roadmap. Increase team capabilities through mentorship and training. Create visualizations, communicate requirements to data engineers, and contribute to anomaly investigations. Expand the Test and Learn process for data analysis and A/B testing. Work with data engineers to standardize transformation logic. Follow data analysis best practices and adapt to changing business needs. Travel up to 15% of the time for events and conferences.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in a data analyst role working at scale
  • 2+ years of hands on experience working with SQL (CTEs, window functions, optimization)
  • Experience with one or more major BI tools (Domo*, Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Comfortability working with multi-TB cloud data warehouses (Snowflake*, Big Query, Redshift)
  • Experience with web analysis such as creating product funnels, user behavior, and paths
  • Experience with designing and analyzing experiments including but not limited to A/B testing
  • Working knowledge of data warehousing, dimensional modeling and other reporting structures
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and tools such as dbt*, Matillion, etc
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working on a distributed/remote team
  • Ability to travel up to approx 15%

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the ad operations, sales and overall revenue teams to develop analytic monitoring and measurement tools that meet immediate needs
  • Develop analytics that anticipate the business needs
  • Inform the analytics roadmap, which includes leading projects through all phases
  • Increase our teamsโ€™ ability and comfort level in answering questions through mentorship, training, and better tooling
  • Create visualizations to monitor business performance and uncover interesting trends for investigation
  • Communicate requirements to the data engineers to ensure the platform can support the business needs
  • Contribute to anomaly investigation helping other teams identify root cause and present findings
  • Define and create exception based alerting that is meaningful for specific audiences along with investigation and remediation steps
  • Expand the Test and Learn process we use for exploratory data analysis and A/B testing, this includes helping stakeholders decide on testing strategy, generating baselines, approximating sample sizes and performing analysis of test results
  • Work with data and analytics engineers to standardize transformation logic in the dbt layer for consistency and ease of exploration by end users
  • Follow data analysis code best practices and analysis standards
  • As business needs change, be flexible in learning and applying your skills and experience working with other stakeholders
  • Availability to travel to on-site locations for events/conferences, team retreats and the annual all hands events (approximately 15% of the time)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional analytics experience working in the Ad Tech industry with an understanding of Google Ad Manager, SSPs, DSPs, Open vs Private Market
  • Experience with R or Python for creating data models or data manipulation
  • Experience with dbt and Snowflake
  • The ability to make your teammates laugh (it wouldnโ€™t hurt if you were fun to work with is what Iโ€™m saying)
  • Familiarity with event tracking systems (NewRelic, Snowplow, etc)
