Data Analyst Intern

Summary

Join CALSTART as a Data Analyst Intern and contribute to advancing clean transportation initiatives. This 4-6 month, part-time internship (25 hours/week) offers hands-on experience in data-driven policy analysis and sustainability research. You will work with large datasets using R or Python, conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses, and create visualizations and reports. The role involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and presenting findings. The internship starts in late Q1 or Q2 2025. CALSTART is a mission-driven organization focused on transportation decarbonization and clean air.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Excel and R or Python for data processing and statistical analysis
• Ability to clearly present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
• A problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify insights from complex datasets
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and maintain accuracy in data analysis
• Passion for advancing zero-emission technologies and environmental research

Responsibilities

• Work with R or Python to clean, process, and analyze large datasets
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to support clean transportation projects
• Research academic papers, industry reports, and policy documents to inform data insights
• Produce visualizations, reports, and trend analyses to support decision-making
• Assist in data collection by engaging with industry partners, researchers, and internal teams
• Prepare materials, reports, and visualizations for stakeholder meetings and internal discussions

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or above in STEM or Business Analysis
