Summary

Join RYZ Labs as a Data Product Manager and lead the development and execution of data strategies. You will be responsible for creating and implementing a strategic vision for data products, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring data accessibility and reliability. The role requires strong technical expertise in data warehousing, data modeling, and SQL, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills. You will work closely with stakeholders across various departments to understand their data needs and prioritize efforts. This position offers the opportunity to mentor junior team members and foster a data-driven culture within the organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data analytics and technical product management within a high-growth environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data or analytics at a public and/or high-growth startup
  • 3+ years of experience as a Technical Product Manager or Product Manager, with a strong focus on data products
  • Demonstrated experience in a technical role such as Data Engineer or Software Engineer, with a deep understanding of data pipeline design, integration, and data transformation methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to build trust-based relationships with business partners at all levels
  • Advanced technical expertise in SQL, Excel/Google Sheets, Tableau (or similar BI tools), Data Warehouse strategies, and Data Modeling. Experience with Snowflake Data Warehouse and Data Build Tool (DBT) is a strong plus
  • Proficiency in testing data products and writing test scripts (preferably in SQL)
  • Proven track record of shipping complex data products and leading cross-functional teams
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a focus on driving business results through data-driven solutions
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa
  • A self-starter with a bias for action and proven leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop and articulate a strategic vision for data products aligned with business objectives, taking into account our global customer base and diverse user needs
  • Lead and shape the data strategy, owning the vision and roadmap of data products at Sonder
  • Collaborate closely with Data Engineering and Business Intelligence Engineering to execute on the set roadmap
  • Work cross-functionally with enterprise-wide stakeholders including (but not limited to) Analytics, Data Science, FP&A, Accounting, Revenue Management, Underwriting, Operations etc. to understand data needs and prioritize efforts
  • Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and understanding of data products and their impact on the business
  • Co-develop data requirements with Data Engineering, Engineering and Privacy teams, and co-design the instrumentation and migration/induction of data for new and existing features from production to downstream data warehouse
  • Establish and enforce Data Governance rules to enable clean/consistent data visualization and reporting
  • Partner closely with system owners to create standards for upstream datasets: NetSuite, Salesforce etc
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of data products
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of data-driven decision making

Preferred Qualifications

Background or proficiency with concepts in the hospitality industry (nice to have)
